Vehicle safety belt systems are designed to fit an adult's body, not a childs. Once your child outgrows the upper weight or height limit of their forward facing, 5 point harness seat (usually between 40-65 pounds), he or she should use a belt-positioning booster seat until at least 4'9" tall (generally 8-12 years old).
Booster seats raise the child up so the belt is positioned "belt to bone" over the strongest parts of the body, significantly reducing serious crash-related injuries such as spinal cord damage, internal bleeding, and torn liver or spleen.
Guard your most precious cargo against preventable injury.
Bring your child to this community service event. Their certified passenger safety technicians will educate you on proper installation and provide a new booster seat at no charge. To qualify for a free booster seat, your child must be at least 4 and 40 pounds.
