Several brush fires reported in Lehigh Acres Sunday afternoon

Several brush fires flared up Sunday afternoon in Lehigh Acres. Nearly 10 acres burned at the corner of Truman Ave and East 13th Street. Smaller fires were reported at Todd Avenue and 28th Avenue SW, and East 13th Street near Wellington and Johns avenues.

Lehigh Acres residents are encouraged to be cautious during this time of the year when conditions are dryer than usual, the humidity is low which creates the perfect fuel for fires. It is very important not to burn anything outside, especially cigarettes.

Crews from all over Southwest Florida were called in to assist in yesterdays fires.
