S.R. 82 Eastbound Traffic Shift Sunday Night (August 5)

On Sunday, August 5, during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., eastbound travel lanes on S.R. 82 from Forum Boulevard through the intersection with Colonial/Lee Boulevard will shift south to the newly constructed roadway. Motorists should expect travel delays and periodic road closures (5 to 7 minute intervals). Law enforcement officers will be on site at intersecting roads to direct motorists and to assist during the lane shifts. A new traffic signal at Buckingham Road will become operational during this work.

Variable message signs will alert motorists to changing traffic patterns. Motorists are advised to
USE CAUTION driving in this area. If possible, motorists are asked to seek alternate routes
Sunday night until crews complete the lane shift work. Once the traffic shift is complete, there
will be three eastbound lanes and one westbound lane on S.R. 82 while crews pave the remaining
westbound lanes. This traffic pattern is expected to remain in place for the few weeks. This
work is part of the City of Fort Myers’ S.R. 82 Widening Project. This project is expected to be
completed later this summer.
